My Broken Cottage

Sometimes trials seem to go on forrreevver.  And you never really get the big picture "why" behind all of it.  But every once in a while, you catch a glimpse of what God has in store for you.

This week marks the end of a trial that has bothered me for a very long time.  But it ended.  And oh what a sweet realization it was when I realized I was free.

As I pondered over it all, I couldn't help but think of this quote:

“Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of - throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself.”  --CS Lewis

God is in charge and He knows what we need more clearly than we do.  It's definitely difficult to let an old cottage become broken and destroyed.  But as I look at my sweetheart Derek and the life we're enjoying together, this is turning out to be the beginnings of a beautiful palace.

On another note, WE FINALLY GOT OUR WEDDING PICTURES!!!  And I love them so much.  That was the perfect day.
